Reef HQ Aquarium is proud to be featured on the latest Monopoly board special edition, featuring iconic Townsville locations.
A juvenile hawksbill turtle, affectionately known as โKoopaโ, represents Reef HQ Aquarium on the Monopoly board. Koopa is one of the hundreds of turtles that were rehabilitated at our Turtle Hospital. Koopa received life-saving treatment while in care at the Aquarium and was released back into the ocean in the outer Great Barrier Reef.
As a local icon and attraction, weโre thrilled to have a property that represents our National Education Centre for the Great Barrier Reef.
The Monopoly Townsville edition is available from shop.townsvillenorthqueensland.com.au, along with leading retailers including Big W, JB Hi-Fi, QBD, Mr Toys/Toyworld, and Gameology.
The Aquarium is currently closed for transformation, but you can read about our latest project updates here.
The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority acknowledges the expertise, wisdom, and enduring connections that have informed the guardianship of the Reef for millennia. We pay our respects to the Traditional Owners as the first managers of this land and sea Country, and value their traditional knowledge which continues to inform the current management and stewardship of the Reef for future generations. We pay our respects to the Gurambilbarra Wulgurukaba Traditional Owners on whose land the Great Barrier Reef Aquarium is situated on. We acknowledge their connection to Country and are honoured to be collaborating with the Gurambilbarra Wulgurukaba community to co-design exhibits highlighting culture values and connections to sea Country.
